My name is Joseph Horak and I am an indie game developer and student at UT Austin as an Arts and Entertainment Technologies major.

After being in love with video games since childhood, I decided to start creating them in high school, and then pursue it as a career in college. I like making games where the player can explore my unique ideas and images, whether that’s a ghost going through the afterlife (Exit Survey) or a traveler in a foreign forest (Alien Forest). Most of my education focuses on game development and helps me to hone my design and art skills. Using these lessons, I apply new knowledge and techniques to each of my releases so that they can all feel different and exciting.
Although currently attending university in Austin, TX, I also frequently visit my hometown of El Paso, TX. My experiences living on the border and the distinctive community I live in influence my art and motivates me to keep composing new stories and experiences. As a developer, I am more interested in introducing the player to something new, than making something familiar. I believe that the medium can be pushed further, and it is my raw excitement that makes me a creatively fresh developer.
